Recent Example of  CDC Cooperative Agreement Project

The leadership of the Foundation is 100% committed to achieving the vision of the organization. Over the past several years, the OSAP Foundation has worked toward three main goals to achieve its vision of safe dental care for people everywhere. A summary of successes to-date follows.

  1. A user-friendly website offering information, education, and assistance (www.OSAP.org)
  2. A process to quickly answer practitioner and patient questions on dental infection control, with answers accessible to all via OSAP.org's "Frequently Asked Questions".
  3. The web-based News Updates to gather and provide daily links to breaking infection control stories.
  4. OSAP's Travelers' Guide to Safe Dental Care (available in print and online)
  5. The If Saliva Were Red training system, with video and trainer's guide.
  6. The comprehensive workbook CDC Guidelines: From Policy to Practice By OSAP.
  7. A six-module on-line training course covering the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Dental Health-Care Setting - 2003 funded by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) through the Cooperative Agreement. This course is complimentary (FREE) to all. The only cost associated with this program is for an optional exam to obtain continuing education credits.
  8. A special 55-page supplement to Compendium of Continuing Dental Education on 2003 CDC guidelines.
  9. OSAP's 51-page Guide for Safety and Infection Control for Oral Healthcare Missions.
  10. Two successful global summits to identify and address needs through training programs and materials.

In addition, OSAP has:

  1. Participated in the committee on infection control test construction for the Dental Assisting National Board.
  2. Leveraged resources with:
    1. Midmark to distribute an OSAP-created Instrument processing wall chart.
    2. Henry Schein to distribute a "Public Health and Awareness Information Guide" on anthrax.
