Core Infection Control Training for Consultants

The 12th Annual Basic Training Course in Infection Control is the most comprehensive training program in dental infection control available in the world.  This core educational package covering all the basics in infection prevention and safety.  This course is a crucial building block for all OSHA/infection control consultants and trainers, and for infection control nurses who work closely with dental clinics.

Course Goals

  1. Verify competency in dental infection control and safety principles;

  2. Provide the latest information on the implementation and management of effective infection control and occupational health and safety programs for dental settings emphasizing infectious diseases and occupational risks associated with dentistry;

  3. Ensure participants understand and can implement behavioral change theory in their training endeavors; and

  4. Achieve a consistent level of competency among dental infection control trainers, educators and consultants.

Target Audience

OSHA/infection control consultants and trainers or clinicians who are considering entering into the consulting field.  The course also is applicable for faculty of dental schools, dental hygiene and dental assisting programs who teach and/or are responsible for infection prevention and safety, and infection control nurses who work closely with dental clinics.

Prerequisites

In order to obtain maximum benefit from this course, it is suggested that all attendees have:

  1. A professional degree (DDS, DMD, RDH, MD, RN); or
    X
  2. A minimum of an associates degree (preferably in healthcare or the life/health sciences); or
    X
  3. Completed basic dental assisting training with at least two years clinical experience; or
    X
  4. Completed a training program leading to either registration (RDA) or certification (CDA) with at least two years clinical experience.

    Upon arrival at San Antonio International Airport;
    Go to the baggage claim area to pick up your bags. You will also see a kiosk with hotel phones. Please pick up the phone that says Hilton San Antonio Airport Hotel. It will automatically dial the operator at the hotel. Let him/her know you have arrived and which airlines you were on. The operator will dispatch a driver to pick you up!
