    THE CONNECTION BETWEEN HPV AND OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER

DESCRIPTION     Although most head and neck cancers traditionally have been associated with tobacco and alcohol use, current evidence suggests that about two-thirds or more of oropharyngeal cancers, those of the base of tongue and tonsils, are HPV-positive. These cancers are increasing in a younger, white, male population.
