TITLE    Six-Sigma Methodologies

 

 

DESCRIPTION This workshop is designed to assist educators in examining the “six sigma” methodology to determine if the process can be applied within their educational setting.  Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control (DMAIC) is the itemization involved in the “six sigma” approach.  The lecture will focus on exploring the effectiveness of the process, research related to use in the healthcare setting, discussion of tools available and the possible benefits gained through implementing the DMAIC approach.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

 

After attending this program, participants should be able to:

  • Participant will describe the DMAIC process to evaluate infection control management and instruction in their educational setting.
  • Participant will analyze the effectiveness of the processes currently in place and determine if changes would be advantageous related to the DMAIC and “six sigma” approach.
  • Participant will identify and evaluate tools and applicable research related to use of the “six sigma” approach in the healthcare setting.
