   Facilitator Bio


Dr. George G. Gatseos II, is the Chief Executive Officer of Safe Dental Services LLC, a Dental Infection Control and Dental Practice Consulting firm also specializing in OSHA training for Dental healthcare professionals. He received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Northern Colorado, his DDS from the University of Colorado School Dentistry, and graduated with honors (Cum Laude) in 1977. He completed his General Dentistry Residency training as an active duty Dental Officer at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, TX, in 1978

He is eminently qualified as he retired after 13 years as an Associate Professor of Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, and was the Infection Control Officer of the school of dentistry for ten 10 years. Dr. Gatseos was the Course Director of the Infection Control Didactic Course for all undergraduate pre-doctoral Dental Students and International Students from 2000 to 2013. He is nationally recognized in Dental Infection Control having served on the OSAP National Board and as Treasurer from 2000-2003. He continues to serve the dental infection control organization sitting on policy committees. He is not only a member of OSAP but also a member of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) He is also a Consultant for Infection Control in Dentistry for the Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners. complaints being investigated by the Board.  Safe Dental Services LLC is proud to be sponsored by the Dentists Professional Liability Trust of Colorado (The TRUST) as their preferred dental infection control services provider.

Dr. Gatseos has practiced dentistry as a general dentist in the U.S. Army Dental Corps until his retirement as a Lt. Colonel U.S. Army Reserves, His active duty assignments were with 3 hospitals, William Beaumont AMC, U.S. Army Hospital, Bremerhaven, Germany, and Fitzsimmons AMC, Aurora, CO. He continued as a reserve dental officer and served in the 5502nd Reserve 1000 Bed Aug Hospital as the Officer in Charge (OIC) for the dental clinic.

He practiced general dentistry as a sole proprietor (Dutch Creek Dental, Littleton, CO) from 1983 to 1999. From 1999 until 2008 he practiced at the CU Dental School Dental Faculty Practice, in Aurora, CO.

Dr. Gatseos primary research interests has been with Biofilm in Dental Unit Waterlines. He presented an abstract and Table Clinic presentation, “Effectiveness of Sterisil Products in Reducing Biofilm Contamination in Dental Unit Waterlines.” At the IADR meeting in Honolulu, HI, 2004. He is currently doing a follow up article on 8 years of testing Dental Unit Waterlines, at the University of Colorado, School of Dental Medicine in collaboration with Dr. Lonnie Johnson DDS, PhD, Dean Clinical Affairs SODM.

Dr. Gatseos has lectured and presented at National meetings, Rocky Mountain Dental Convention, and has presented multiple Continuing Education courses in Infection Control at the University. He recently presented for the Colgate Oral Health Network, (World Wide C.E.) a webinar “Update on Hepatitis C for dental healthcare providers”, May, 2014.  In October, 2015, he presented a lecture “ Emerging Diseases; what you and your patients need to know” to the Western Dental Society, Grand Junction/ Palisades, CO. He was asked to speak for the American Dental Assoication’s Council on Dental Practice at last fall’s ADA Annual Session 2016, Denver, CO, his Title was, “ Infection Control in the Dental Practice: Why it Still Matters.”
