I am an assistant professor. I'm reviewing our IC manual for our students and have a question: We have stated in our manual that proper handwashing is a 15 sec wash and then rinse (do this twice at beginning of each clinic and once for subsequent washings). Is this proper protocol?

If using an alcohol-based hand rub would you also recommend a double washing at the beginning of clinic?

Is there a list of FDA approved for healthcare settings of hand sanitizers/soaps? I have a few providers that claim they can not use any alcohol based products do to sensitivity, and this sensitivity applies to anti-microbial soaps as well. Any suggestions?

Is there a recommendation and/or regulation that states wearing a watch is a violation? I was told this recently but have never read or heard of this previously. Please advise.

Do you have any articles or studies that would address effectiveness of regular hand soap vs antimicrobial hand soap.

I am getting concerns from employees regarding the long term use of antimicrobial soaps and hand sanitizers.

Is regular hand soap acceptable ? If you can help me on this I would greatly appreciate it.
