 FAQ - Waste Treatment & Disposal - 2015

I have heard that you cannot put Tarter and Stain remover down the drain because of the pH.  It was stated that you had to add baking soda to the tarter and stain if you wanted to pour it down the drain.  Any comments???

Ask OSAP assumes that you are referring to ultrasonic cleaning solutions used for tartar and stain removal. It is recommended that you consult with the manufacturer’s instructions for use regarding how to handle and dispose of the product, or that you contact the manufacturer/distributor directly for further information.

Additionally, it is recommended that you review the product Safety Data Sheet (SDS) [formerly known as the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)] for further information regarding waste and disposal considerations. Section 13 of the SDS should pertain to disposal considerations. Further information about SDS’s can be found at this link:

Further information about OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard can be found at this link:

Waste disposal should be in compliance with EPA and/or state and local guidelines.
