Leslie E. Grant DDS MSPA owned a dental practice in Baltimore City for more than 20 years, and provided school-based public health services with the city's health department for eight years.

As a college student, her interest was in speech pathology and audiology. She received a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing from Boston University, and a master's in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Washington. "My interest in dentistry evolved from my work as a speech and language pathologist,” she said.

She has been a member of the National Dental Association since 1986 and served as its President in 2006. She also is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and numerous other organizations, task forces and Boards of Directors. She has received many awards and professional honors including being named one of the 100 Most Influential African Americans in 2006 by Ebony Magazine.

Tim Lorencovitz MBA is a Marketing Manager with seventeen years of classic consumer marketing and business-to-business marketing experience. The past eight years he has focused on marketing infection prevention products to the dental consumer through distribution for Sultan Healthcare, a division of Dentsply International. Mr. Lorencovitz is currently responsible for the strategic direction of Infection Prevention and Oral Preventive product categories for Sultan Healthcare which represents two thirds of the division's revenue.

Jeff Sherman is the Director Corporate Brand Merchandise & Marketing North America for Henry Schein, Inc. He has 30 years of experience in the dental industry working in both distribution and manufacturing. Since 1988, he has been involved in infection control products and promotion of safety in the dental environment.

Mr. Sherman received his BA from the University of Michigan.

Anthony (Tony) Angelini is Co-Founder and Co-Owner of AEGIS Communications, a healthcare communication and education company serving the dental community. AEGIS publishes Inside Dentistry and The Compendium, and Mr. Angelini is the Co-Publisher of both publications. Prior to launching AEGIS Communications, he was Vice President of Sales and Associate Publisher at Dental Learning Systems, a division of Medical World Communications. He has a total of 21 years experience as a dental media/marketing consultant working with dental manufacturers and distributors to develop comprehensive advertising/marketing solutions using both print and electronic assets.

Kathy Eklund RDH MHP

Kathy Eklund RDH MHP is the Director of Infection Control and Occupational Health, and Research Subject and Patient Safety Advocate at the Forsyth Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. She is an adjunct associate professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, where she teaches senior level courses in oral health research.

Ms. Eklund volunteers and works with a number of professional organizations. She is a past Chair of OSAP and has served as Secretary of the OSAP Foundation. She serves as faculty for the New England AIDS Education and Training Center (NEAETC) and HIVdent.org. Ms. Eklund has provided regional HIV education and training to dental and primary health care providers in association with the NEAETC for the past 18 years. Over the past twenty five years Ms. Eklund has served on several committees for the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA), most recently the Clinical Practice Guideline Task Force. Ms. Eklund has received several national professional recognition awards.

Over the past 26 years, Ms. Eklund has published numerous articles and contributed to several texts and educational learning modules on infection prevention and control. She is one of the authors of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for Infection Control In Dental Health-Care Settings-2003.

Ms. Eklund lectures nationally and internationally on infection prevention and control. She has practiced clinical dental hygiene in private practice and institutional settings since 1975.

Carmen (Yolanda) Bonta DMD MS

Carmen (Yolanda) Bonta DDS MS is Executive Director, Hispanic Dental Association. She previously was with Colgate-Palmolive Corporation for 18 years, where she was Director of Technology. Her widespread responsibilities in oral care included managing global professional relationships and marketing activities, clinical research and development, and the introduction of new products.

She also was involved in academe serving for 6 years as Assistant Clinical Professor at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and 4 years as Associate Professor and Instructor in Medicine (Microbiology) at the University of Puerto Rico Schools of Dental Medicine and Medicine. In addition, she has held numerous administrative and fellowship appointments; she serves or has served on various editorial boards, academic and scientific committees, is the recipient of several professional awards and honors, has authored many research publications and journal books, is a member of numerous professional and scientific societies, and she holds 2 patents.

Dr. Bonta received her BS (Biology) from Pace University, her MS (Microbiology) from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, her DMD from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, and an MS (Oral Biology) from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Doug Braendle

Doug Braendle is US Product Manager for SciCan Inc. and is responsible for product training, including internal and the training of their corporate selling partners. He works with leading industry clinicians and corporate sales partners, including Henry Schein Dental, Patterson Dental, Benco Dental, Burkhart Dental, Atlanta Dental others. He also is in charge of all dental shows, including the "BIG 7".

Prior to joining SciCan, he was with Brasseler and was also territory sales representative for Healthco for 8 years. He began his career with Northwestern Dental, owned by Buffalo Dental, where he was a territory sales representative for 8 years.

Mr. Braendle received his undergraduate degree (Life Science Major, Business Administration Minor) from Indiana State University.

Leann Keefer RDH MSM

Leann Keefer RDH MSM received her degree in dental hygiene as well as her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University. She was awarded a Masters Degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Ms. Keefer recently joined Crosstex International as General Manager and Director of Education. Prior to her position at Crosstex, she was with DENTSPLY Professional from 2004-2010 serving as the Manager of Professional Relations and Educational Services as well as the Clinical Affairs Manager.

During the 16 years she served as adjunct faculty at Indiana University, she was also the Director of Alumni Service at Indiana University/Purdue University at Fort Wayne.

In 1998, she was named Director of the Dental Hygiene Program at the Community College of Denver, holding that position until joining DENTSPLY Professional.

Ms. Keefer is committed to maintaining Crosstex's leadership position with influential dental care professionals, proactively identifying trends in the field of oral care and establishing the company's long-term strategy related to education and professional relations. As a noted international speaker, she has addressed professional audiences worldwide with an extensive array of dental and business topics. Ms. Keefer serves on various foundation boards, is a site visitor for the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, and is the hygiene member on the AAP Continuing Education Committee.

She also holds memberships with the American Dental Hygienists Association, the Colorado Dental Hygienists Association, the American Dental Educators Association, Sigma Phi Alpha ~ Dental Hygiene Honor Society, and the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention

Jennifer Naylor

Jennifer Naylor is General Manager, IMS and Infection Control Strategic Business Unit at Hu-Friedy Manufacturing where she has overall financial and management responsibility for the development and implementation of the global strategy for IMS and disposable product lines.

At Hu-Friedy since 2001, she also has served in several marketing positions, including Director, Dental Products and Director IMS and Surgical Products. She has wide-ranging experience in strategic planning, creating educational and training materials, managing new product teams, launching new products and developing strategic alliance partnerships with key industry leaders.

Prior to joining Hu-Friedy, she held product management and other marketing positions for 5 years with Leica Microsystems and Abbott Laboratories, where she had responsibilities that included capital equipment and pharmaceutical products, public relations, creating sales budgets and forecasts, and technical liaison for customer support groups, marketing and sales.

Ms. Naylor received her BS in Biology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her MBA from DePaul University.

Dr. John O'Keefe held the position of Editor-in-Chief with the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) between 1997 and 2010. In this role, he was responsible for the content of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association and the Association's website. Each vehicle is published in both English and French. In 2011 he became Director, Knowledge Networks: responsible for the development of the JCDA as a clinical decision support system for the dental office. He also plays an ambassadorial role for the CDA.

He graduated as a dentist from the University of Dublin, Ireland, in 1980, and obtained a research-based M.Dent.Sc. degree from the same university in 1990. From 1991-1993, Dr. O'Keefe participated in a professional MBA program in Montreal, which provided general management training. He obtained a certificate from the National Dental Examining Board of Canada in 1995. He has taught at both the University of Toronto and the McGill University dental schools.

Dr. O'Keefe is licensed to practice dentistry in Ontario and has recently provided care on a part-time basis to people with limited access to dental care. Many of his writing and oral presentations relate to: the future of the dental profession; the changing regulatory climate for Canadian dentistry; the importance of knowledge translation to the dentist/patient relationship; developing new professional association publication strategies, and the role of professional journals in preventing questionable professional practice.

He has been chair of the communications committee of the FDI World Dental Federation and also president of the American Association of Dental Editors. He is currently a member of the board of AboutFace, an advocacy group for persons touched by facial difference. He is a Friend of OSAP.

He has Honorary Fellowships with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the Academy of Dentistry International, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the OKU Dental Honor Society, and the Finnish Dental Society.

Mike Smurr

Mike Smurr is the Patterson Dental Director of Marketing, Merchandise. Mr. Smurr began his career with Patterson in 2000, as Milwaukee Branch manager, and held that position until December 2008. During this time, the branch earned Branch of the Year honors twice (fiscal 2001 and fiscal 2003), as well as the Chuck Lottes Award in fiscal 2004 for largest dollar increase in net income over prior year. Mr. Smurr began his dental career in 1982 as a territory manager for Columbus Dental, serving northern Illinois and Wisconsin. In 1986, he became a marketing manager with Columbus Dental, and was instrumental in transitioning product lines when the company was purchased by Bayer Dental (now Heraeus). From 1989-1990 Mike worked in Germany with the International Marketing team of Bayer Dental. Upon returning to the U.S., he held positions of increasing responsibility, from key account manager to national sales manager. In 1998, Mr. Smurr became the dental marketing director for Banta Healthcare Products (now TIDI Products), where he advanced to vice president of sales and marketing, responsible for the dental, medical and foodservice business.

In his current role as Director of Marketing, Merchandise, Mr. Smurr is responsible for the marketing interactions between Patterson Dental and the over 800 manufacturers with whom Patterson works. This includes marketing communications, product submissions, promotional and introductory product campaigns and private label business.
