The Training System
The OSHA Regulations and CDC Guidelines Interact Training System helps dental healthcare personnel (DHCP) understand the health and safety considerations established by government guidelines and regulations. The course is designed to train DHCP to develop safe working habits through practical application.
The course includes a video on DVD, one spiral bound Employee Workbook, a Manager's Guide, CE Test, Exposure Control Checklist and Post-Exposure Management Materials. Each chapter in the course is sequenced to include:
- a video segment that lays out the required material in a simple and concise format;
- the workbook that explains and references a wide array of infection control and related health and safety issues. In each chapter, there are fill-in-the-blank exercises designed to familiarize the participant with locations and procedures specific to the practice and to aid in comprehension (NOTE: each employee participating in the training should have their own workbook);
- discussion: the practice's Exposure Control Manager and/or employer will discuss and clarify any aspect of the material presented, demonstrate any particular procedures used in the practice and show the location of resources, equipment and materials; and
- documentation: after each chapter there is a short self-assessment test to highlight the key points in each lesson and to evaluate the participant's knowledge of the practice's procedures. This signed test serves as the practice's training record and must be kept in the personnel file for three years, to meet the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) training requirements.

- Medical Waste Disposal - handling, packaging, transport and records
- Pulling it All Together - integrated office management

Manager's Orientation Package
The OSHA Regulations and CDC Guidelines Interact Training System is a complete dental health and safety training program. This program integrates OSHA regulations and the CDC guidelines, basic principles and concepts, and professional standards using a process to enhance learning.
The dental practice employer should identify an Exposure Control Manager (Manager) to help facilitate the training system. The goals of the Manager are:
- To train every employee, with the same information and least amount of disruption to the daily routine;
- To create an atmosphere where health and safety is an integral part of daily work life;
- To ensure that all employees have the confidence and knowledge to answer patient questions concerning health and safety.
The Manager's Orientation Package Includes:
- Manager's Guide (overview of the Training System, participant materials, the role of the Exposure Control Manager and the Post-Exposure Management Plan. It also contains information about how to correct post-test and obtain CE credits.
