TITLE    Developing a Culture of Patient Safety Within the Royal Canadian Dental Corps




This session defines the importance of a patient safety culture, highlights the distinction between a ‘blame’ culture and a ‘just’ culture, discusses methods to assess culture, and provides insight into the evolution of how patient safety culture evolves over time.   The session concludes with information on how to create and support a positive safety culture.  Strategies used to develop a patient safety culture within the Royal Canadian Dental Corps will be discussed throughout the session, with the provision of generic recommendations for dental practices of all types.
