FAQ - Disease and Disease Agents - 2014
 FAQ -  Disease & Disease Agents -  2014

Our office frequently references your information to help us in addressing issues that arise in our dental office.

Could you please inform me of the recommendations in regards to treating dental patients with active lesions of the lip.

First, it should be noted that there are multiple factors that can cause lesions of the lip. Ask OSAP does not provide medical advice. It is recommended that you consult with a qualified medical doctor on this matter. A qualified medical doctor (ie., internist, infectious disease specialist, dermatologist, etc.) can provide appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and recommendations as well as provide advice regarding an acceptable routine. Ask OSAP can provide you with some general information as follows:

Guideline for infection control in health care personnel, 1998  1

The 2003 CDC guidelines for infection control in dentistry which can be accessed here:  2

American Academy of Dermatology  3
