July 2, 2021(ATLANTA, GA) - The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) has announced the members of the 2021-2022 OSAP Association Board of Directors.

“OSAP is grateful to have Eve Cuny, MS, as our new Board Chair for the 2021-2022 year. Eve is one of OSAP’s leading experts in infection prevention. She not only shares her knowledge nationally, but she is also often requested to speak throughout the world. Her leadership skills are just what we need as we continue to grow the association and create new resources for our members and the dental community," states Michelle Lee, Executive Director.

Ms. Cuny is the Executive Associate Dean at Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California, where she is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences. Ms. Cuny is a consultant to the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and is a member of the National Occupational Research Agenda Council in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector. She has served as an expert reviewer and advisor to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is past chairperson of the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP). She received the James Crawford Award for Lifetime Achievement in dental infection control in 2009. She is an internationally recognized expert in infection control in dentistry, publishing, consulting, and lecturing throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. She has also earned the OSAP-DALE Foundation Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate™.

David Kierce was elected as Vice-Chair. He is currently the Global Platform Leader for Dentsply-Sirona’s Infection Prevention product line. Kierce has been on the Dentsply-Sirona team for over 25 years. He started with DENTSPLY Ceramco in June 1993 as a Territory Sales Representative. From there, his career has grown to include leadership roles in special markets, merchandising, and marketing.

Matthew Ellis, MPH, CIC, REHS, will serve as Treasurer. LCDR Ellis serves as the U.S./DHHS- Indian Health Service (IHS) Infection Prevention and Control Program Manager, assigned to the IHS HQ’s Office of Quality. LCDR Ellis is co-Lead and an architect of the regional healthcare accreditation readiness team and served collaterally as the Public Health Emergency Management Coordinator. He is a United States Army infantry veteran and has completed healthcare infection control and safety position tenures with a private healthcare consulting firm, University of Kentucky Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Healthcare Administration.

Steve Geiermann, DDS, was elected as Secretary. Dr. Geiermann, a retired Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service, serves as the Senior Manager addressing access, community oral health infrastructure, and capacity within the American Dental Association (ADA). He served as a dental director in the Indian Health Service and Federally Qualified Health Centers as well as being an HRSA regional dental consultant and project officer within the National Health Service Corps and the HIV/AIDS Bureau. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) and was an expert advisor for Safety Net Solutions seeking to improve the financial stability and productivity of health centers. He currently serves on the advisory committee for the Oral Health Progress and Equity Network (OPEN) and the board of the American Institute of Dental Public Health (AIDPH).

Our newly elected board members include Ramneek Rai, DDS, and Steve Wright, MBA.

Dr. Ramneek Rai is the Director of Health and Safety and HS Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences at UCSF School of Dentistry. She is an alumna of UCSF School of Dentistry where she earned her DDS Degree in 2009. Dr. Rai has been active in private practice and academia after finishing her Advanced Education in General Dentistry at UT Dental Branch, Houston, in 2010. Dr. Rai has been a member of OSAP since 2018 and credits the organization for supporting and guiding her work in the field of dental infection prevention and safety. She aspires to support the work of the organization to continue shining the spotlight on dental safety and disperse the evidence-based information and principles to all dental providers and practices. Her goal is to set best practices and standards with dental providers not only at UCSF or nationally but reaching providers globally.

Mr. Steve Wright is the Vice President of Global Marketing for Young Innovations, a 100+ year old dental manufacturing company making some of the industry’s leading brands in the preventive, restorative, and infection control categories. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and creative direction for all marketing activities across the business including brand management, lead generation, new product launches, digital marketing, and e-commerce. Mr. Wright has participated with OSAP as a Corporate Member and Super Sponsor for over 10 years and has a passion for improving the infection control practices in the dental office while spreading the OSAP message across the dental industry. Mr. Wright holds an MBA from the Washington University in St. Louis Olin Business School and a BA in Journalism from Oswego University. Mr. Wright has been in the dental market for over 20 years. Prior to joining Young in 2004, Steve worked for Lanmark360, a healthcare marketing agency predominately focused on the dental industry.
