January 15, 2020 (ATLANTA) — Registration is now open for the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention’s (OSAP) Annual Conference on May 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis. The conference delivers breakthrough education and valuable networking activities for participants. Early-bird rates are available now through March 31 at osap.org/page/2020annualconf.

OSAP Executive Director Michelle Lee says this year’s conference features world-class speakers and experts in the topics of dental safety. Amongst these many speakers are leaders representing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and The Joint Commission who will cover evolving guidance, compliance, and emerging infection prevention and patient safety issues.

“We are excited to have Dr. Matt McCarthy, author of ‘Superbugs: The Race to End an Epidemic’, as our Zapp lecture. His energy and passion make him a perfect choice for our meeting,” Lee said.

The conference also features an increase of educational sessions from the OSAP membership, which inspired this year’s theme, A Clear Vision for Dental Safety. The organization’s goals are for attendees to walk away with an enhanced knowledge of current and emerging dental infection control issues, and to create networks of peers within the OSAP and dental community. The conference aims to enhance global leadership for the optimal delivery of infection prevention and safety.

Additionally, a 1.5-day pre-conference, Basic Training – Dental Infection Prevention and Safety Course provides a comprehensive review of the basics in dental infection control and safety. OSAP invites those who work for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), Indian Health Services (IHS), and Public Health to participate. The course offers more than 10 CE hours, a copy of the updated OSHA & CDC Guidelines: OSAP Interact Training System – 6th Edition workbook, checklists, tools, and much more. Successful completion of the Interact workbook and corresponding assessment counts toward the education requirements for the OSAP-DANB Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and Control (CDIPC) certification and the OSAP-DANB Dental Industry Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control (DISIPC) certification.
