May 23, 2022 (ATLANTA) — The Organization for Safety, Asepsis, and Prevention (OSAP) is excited to introduce a new program, geared specifically towards individuals in the dental academia. Registration is currently open for the OSAP Symposium: Implementing Patient Safety Programs in Academic Institutions, which is taking place the morning of August 19th through the afternoon of August 20th in Atlanta, Georgia. Clinical Deans, Academic Program Directors, Academic Infection Control and Safety Managers, Academic Course Directors, and other dental academic professionals interested in learning from, and networking with, industry leaders in patient safety are encouraged to attend.

Experts on patient safety and quality improvement (QI) will come together, both as speakers and participants, to learn from one another. The symposium will include interactive sessions focused on tools for implementation, curriculum development, accreditation, research opportunities, and QI. Participants will leave the symposium with the knowledge, resources, and tools to integrate patient safety into their school’s curriculum – benefiting students, patients, and staff.

In addition to the educational sessions, there will also be opportunities for networking throughout, including a facilitated, research-based forum and a networking reception on Friday night. This will provide the opportunity for those in attendance to expand their professional network and make connections with those encountering similar challenges.

“We are delighted to be bringing together academic professionals for this new symposium offering,” said OSAP Executive Director Michelle Lee. “With dental school being a formative time for future dental health care personnel, we find it imperative that the professionals who influence and manage these institutions and their curriculums be as informed as possible about patient safety and how it relates to dental infection prevention.”

The Symposium will be in person, and all sessions will be recorded and available on-demand to registered individuals for 60 days following the symposium. All participants can earn up to 10.5 ADA CERP CE credits. For more information or to register, visit www.osap.org/symposium-implementing-patient-safety-programs-in-academic-institutions
