OVERVIEW  

The OSAP Annual Conference brings together the most innovative thinkers in dental infection prevention, occupational health, and patient safety. The 2020 program will cover a wide variety of topics relevant to dental infection control including evolving guidance, compliance, and emerging infection prevention and safety issues. Topical and authoritative information will be provided on the most relevant science, policies, procedures, and resources for patient and provider infection control and safety.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

After attending, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe current and emerging issues related to infection prevention and safety in oral healthcare settings.
  2. List new resources, tools, and networks to optimize compliance.
  3. Identify important attributes to develop and enhance global leadership for the optimal delivery of infection prevention and The Safest Dental VisitTM.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE AGENDA

The Annual Conference will start in the afternoon on Monday, August 31 and run through the evening of Wednesday, September 2.

  • Monday, August 31 all participants who are registered  for the Annual Conference are invited to attend the Welcome Dinner and Networking event. 
  • Wednesday, September 2 participants are encouraged to register for the Wednesday Night Social - Private Lake Cruise for an additional fee.

PRE-CONFERENCE COURSE:  
BASIC TRAINING – DENTAL INFECTION PREVENTION AND SAFETY 

The Basic Training – Dental Infection Prevention and Safety Course is a 1.5-day, pre-conference course. This intense, fast-paced course is presented by national and international experts in dental infection prevention and patient safety. Basic Training is a fundamental level course will provide a comprehensive review of the basics in dental infection control.

Participants will leave with new information and resources to help them better address their infection prevention and safety challenges. Participants also will meet new colleagues who share your interest in this critically important topic area.

This course offers 11 hours of CE credit plus a copy of the newly updated OSHA & CDC Guidelines: OSAP Interact Training System – 6th Edition  workbook ($175 value), checklists, tools, and much more.

Successful completion of the Interact workbook and corresponding assessment counts toward the education requirements for two certifications:

  • OSAP-DANB Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and ControlTM (CDIPCTM) - A clinically focused professional certification
  • OSAP-DANB Dental Industry Specialist in Infection Prevention and ControlTM (DISIPCTM) - An industry (dental trade)-focused professional certification

CALL FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS  

For 2020, OSAP is inviting infection control clinicians, educators, and researchers from around the world and at all career stages to submit abstracts for poster presentations at our 2020 Annual Conference. 

Abstracts that are accepted for presentation at the OSAP Annual Conference may be published in a special issue of the OSAP Journal of Dental Infection Control and Safety.

The 2020 OSAP Annual Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis in Minneapolis, Minnesota, August 31 - September 2, 2020. Located on Nicollet Mall in the heart of the downtown business district, the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis provides spectacular views of the city skyline, skyway connection to Minneapolis Convention Center, and convenient access to the light rail system. The group room rate is $179.00 plus tax (currently at 21.525%) for single/double occupancy per night.

A limited number of Per Diem rate rooms are available for government employees as well. Government employees will need to show their government ID at check-in with the front desk. If an attendee cannot provide their government ID, the rate will be changed to the group rate. To reserve a room at the government Per Diem rate, please call the hotel at the number below. The group rate will be offered three days pre and post event dates, based on availability.

CONTINUING DENTAL EDUCATION  

OSAP is an ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) Provider.

ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.

Concerns or complaints about a CE provider may be directed to the provider or to the Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition at ADA.org/CERP.  Please email the OSAP office at office@osap.org or call +1 (410) 571-0003 if you wish to be in contact with the course author/creator(s) with any questions or for clarification of course concepts.

Participants requesting professional continuing education credits will receive a CE verification form to record the CE numbers for the specific courses they attend. To receive continuing education credit, participants must sign in at the conference, attend the sessions, record the assigned CE number for each lecture attended (note: CE verification numbers are announced at the end of each session), and complete the required evaluation forms. Attendees maintain their CE verification form as proof of participation in the educational programming.

POLICIES

INVOICE PAYMENT

Any invoices for Annual Conference must be paid by August 17, 2020. Payment can be made immediately via credit card upon registration, or payment can be made by creating an invoice. The invoice can be paid via credit card or check. OSAP also accepts purchase orders.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS & SUBSTITUTIONS

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by August 17, 2020. An 80% refund of conference fees will be given for cancellations received by July 17, 2020. A 50% refund of conference fees will be given for cancellations received between July 18, 2020, and August 17, 2020. No refunds will be granted for requests postmarked after August 17, 2020 . Submit all requests to OSAP via email at office@osap.org. OSAP regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. All requests for exceptions to the cancellation/refund policy must be submitted in writing by the registrant with appropriate documentation no later than August 17, 2020. After that time, no refund considerations will be made. 

Substitutions within this program are gladly accepted. A substitution of your full registration is permitted prior to the conference by submitting a written request to office@osap.org. Onsite transfers are not permitted. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution before the change can be made. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited. 

OSAP is not responsible for airfare, hotel, or other costs incurred by participants in the event of a program or registration cancellation. As added protection against unforeseen circumstances, OSAP suggests travel insurance.

PERMISSIONS AND PRIVACY POLICY

OSAP offers registrants contact information to facilitate networking after the course. By registering, you give OSAP permission to include your name and contact details on the attendance list. During the registration process, there is an option to opt-out of this attendance list. Alternatively, if you do not wish to be included on the attendance list, email your exclusion request to  office@osap.org by August 17, 2020.

OSAP takes photos during the course. By registering, you give OSAP permission to use any images taken at the course in which you appear, as well as any written comments you submit on evaluation forms.

OSAP’s Code of Conduct, outlines OSAP’s expectations for anyone attending or contributing to an OSAP meeting or educational activity, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.
