In this webinar, we will discuss what psychological safety is, how it contributes to patients’ and team members’ physical safety, how it mitigates risk, how it enhances engagement, and how it contributes to increased operational performance.

The term psychological safety is defined as an individual’s “sense of being able to show and employ oneself without fear of negative consequences to self-image, status or career” and at the group level as “a shared belief that the team is safe for interpersonal risk taking.” The term embodies individual confidence in the belief that speaking up will not result in embarrassment, rejection, criticism, or punishment from others. In order to promptly and proactively address potential patient safety issues, team members need feel psychologically safe to speak up and raise concerns.

Michael is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the New York Bar. He founded a law practice that specialized in all aspects of healthcare compliance, served as Assistant General Counsel in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services, and has held Chief Compliance Officer, V.P.
